The wine ceremony, though based on an ancient tradition, is one of the latest in wedding trends. I've performed quite a few recently. Maybe it's the growing interest in wine, the internet spreading the trend, or a bit of both!
The simplest way to do the ceremony involves a bottle of wine & one glass. I speak about the ways in which a good marriage is much like a good wine, pour the wine into the glass, & offer it to the wedding couple to sip in turn. Once they return it to me, we toast to the bountiful harvest of their life together.
Variations on the basic ceremony involve blending red & white wines to create rose, a lovely visual.
The wine box ceremony is another fun way to honor the relationship. The couple places a bottle of wine, 2 glasses & love letters to one another in a box to be opened on their fifth anniversary or a time of great difficulty in the marriage, whichever comes first.
No, don't use "Mad Housewife" for the wine!

“It was by chance we came across the Crescent Hotel and the beautiful town of Eureka Springs. We had attended a friend’s wedding and decided we wanted our journey to begin in Eureka as well. My mom asked us to go to the Crescent, hoping we would decide to have our wedding there.
As soon as we topped the Historic Loop and I saw the red carpet leading up the steps to the hotel lobby, I knew I wanted my family and friends to see and feel what I was feeling. It was magical. 10 years later on the same day, at the same time, at the same place, we renewed our vows. We even stayed in the same room at the Crescent!
We are so happy that the minister who married us 10 years ago, Selena Parrish, was there with us again. She rewrote the original ceremony to encompass the changes in our life, & we thank her for being a special part of our vow renewal.
We love Eureka & the Crescent, & want to come back for our 20th anniversary!” -- Audra & Steven Larson, Shawnee, OK
